🔸Phoenix(フィニックス)

(SUP Dog Hawaii Lead Dog Instructor & Professional Surf Dog)

Phoenix a.k.a “PhiPhi” was rescued in the Arizona Desert. She grew up on the road exploring the sights, sounds and people of the USA. She developed an overwhelming connection with tennis balls and fetch, which translated into dynamic ocean and water activity through retrieval exercises. She was first introduced to a Surfboard at the age of 10 weeks, but didn’t take up the sport until the age of two. Phoenix is best known for her hang ten capabilities in the Waikiki surf.

“Dobby” the Chiweenie was born from the rescued Chihuahua mom (Actually his DNA test showed us he’s more Rat Terrier!') from Hawaii Dog Foundation on Nov 2020. We named him Dobby, from Harry Potter. But his ears became stand up! He is one of our SUP pup instructors! He may have short legs but he is a super fast runner and sneaky!

They fell in love with him and decided to become his parents. Started training to be a SUP Dog instructor and also Surf dog partner of Machi! His sista Phoenix has started to teach him how to play fetch🤙 As he is a little monster at home, his mom started to call him, “Pokemon”.

🔶Diamond(ダイヤモンド)

Tyler found her from “Kaaawa K9 rescue” when he went to help cleaning up their sight after their fire accident. Diamond was only 3 months old and we had tried to find her home for over 6 months. Somehow she missed the chance to find her home, also the bond between her and our other dogs became stronger, we decided to adopt her.

She’s also Poidog so Poke and Diamond share their Instagram:)

Nicole & Ziva

Nicole won an Instagram contest for a SUP dog lesson about 4 months after SUPDog Hawaii started. She brought her Chocolate Lab, Ziva, who was then only one year old, to the beach in Kailua where Ziva instantly bonded with Tyler.

Already a SUP devotee who regularly paddled and SUP surfed, Nicole had wanted to get Ziva paddling ever since she was a puppy but wasn't sure how to introduce it to the pup in a way that would keep her wanting to get on the board. The SUPDog Hawaii lesson worked its magic, and Ziva ended up loving her lesson! Nicole and Ziva were even able to paddle around together that very first lesson. It didn't take Nicole long to buy another board from local SUP shop, Blue Planet Surf, specifically for her and Ziva to ride, and now you can frequently find them paddling in Kailua, Waiʻanae, Kahana Bay, and Waikiki.

Next on their adventure list.....teaching Ziva to surf just like her surfer dog friend, Phoenix! You can follow their adventures on Instagram @zivaandnicole.

Stephen

(SUPDog Friend and Photographer)

”From being a one-week visitor from CA to now a regular out on the breaks of Waikiki, Stephen was inspired to pick up surfing after swimming out to Canoes one evening at sunset and snapping candids of all the cool surfers/SUPDogs catching waves. Fast forward half a year later - both friendships and surf skills have continued to develop as Stephen enjoys taking photos and seeing the SUPDog’s Wolf Pack grow. His time on the island may be limited and he may not have a furry friend of his own, though his adventures and experiences will forever be remembered in his photos and memories.”
